Defensive backs aren�脌 allowed to contest catches. It�䏭 at a very basic stage schematically. Essentially, these practices are designed for the offense to win. So: when Travis Homer is getting praised for looking good catching, it�䏭 no surprise. One of his strengths in college was as a receiving back, where he could catch the ball and then transition into a ball carrier quickly. That Homer is catching well in practice should be the expectation. The sixth rounder�䏭 chances of making the final 53 will likely come down to his ability on special teams�𤳙omething we will discover in preseason football.Be wary of the �𦤦ame within the game�𨧧ete Carroll mentioned Amara Darboh unprompted in his OTA press conference. There are many potential reasons for this. One way it can be taken is at face value. Darboh does have a decent chance of making the team given the need at wide receiver and his former status as a third-round pick of Seattle. Carroll�䏭 encouragement can do no harm.However, the more cynical take is that the Seahawks are attempting to generate some trade interest. After Seattle waived Darboh, he failed a physical with the New England Patriots�癳ho tried to claim him�𤤗nd reverted to the Seahawks�� IR. If Darboh is on the roster bubble in the preseason with some impressive catches, would Seattle still choose to quit on his development and take a day 3 pick in return? It�䏭 still likely. That season, the Seahawks leaned on the passing arm of quarterback Russell Wilson as he threw for 24 touchdowns and just one interception over the final seven games as Seattle went 6-1 down the stretch and made the postseason. Wilson averaged 272 yards passing and 31 pass attempts per game during that stretch.So far, it's been balance and efficiency that's defined Seattle's offensive performance during its current three-game win streak, although his overall numbers aren't that dissimilar. Fluker suffered a hamstring strain. Carroll said Fluker had a "grade 1" strain and would likely miss a couple of weeks. When Fluker was unable play last month against the Rams, it was Jordan Simmons who stepped in to start."He seems to be moving in the right direction to be a really, really viable option for us," Carroll said of Simmons. So, we're going to count on him playing and see how that goes."NOTES: Seattle waived LB Emmanuel Ellerbee on Monday, clearing a roster spot for LB Mychal Kendricks after his suspension was lifted. He could end up moving into a prominent role with K.J. Wright still out due to knee troubles, although Austin Calitro has played well. Carroll said he believes Kendricks could play a significant amount of snaps, if needed. �� Carroll expects RB Chris Carson (finger), FB Tre Madden (chest) and DT Shamar Stephen (foot) to be able to play next Monday. Carson suffered a dislocated finger in the win over San Francisco, while Madden and Stephen were both inactive.
