LONDON - Canadian-born opera singer John Vickers, nicknamed "God's tenor" for his inimitable tone of voice and strong Christian beliefs, offers died. He was 88.
The Royal Opera Home opera, citing a statement from Vickers' family members,article$1 million reward for Dorothys ruby slipper, said he passed away Friday in the Canadian province of Ontario after challenging with Alzheimer's disease.

Vickers made his Royal Opera debut in 1957. A season later, he performed at Germany's Bayreuth festival, going to become one of the world's leading performers of Richard Wagner, acclaimed for assignments including Siegmund in "Die Walkuere."
From 1960, he was a regular at New York's Metropolitan Opera, where his personal jobs included Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes."
Vickers stood out among dramatic tenors for the intensity of his shows and his richly effective voice,Ray Ban Clubmaster, described by critic John Ardoin as "keeping a hundred colors and inflections."
"Art is normally a wrestling with this is of lifestyle," Vickers once stated, and his religious faith educated his artistic options.
Despite his association with Wagner's functions, he found the German composer -- whose anti-Semitism produced him a favorite of the Nazis -- morally objectionable.
